SPOs history goes back to the 80s, when we supported SAPs R/2 systems as a Consulting Partner in Germany. Since then, SPO has become one of the leading providers of top notch consulting services, supporting SAP implementations all around the world.
From the beginning on, SPO worked only with highly experienced experts as international consulting partner in projects in Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia and the Americas. In Germany, SPO specialists participated in developments directly in Waldorf, in the SAP headquarters.
In 1991, SAP started to develop a specialized industry solution for the oil industry. It was called IS/Oil. SPO became officially SAP Development Partner and provided the highly experienced resources required for this development. IS/Oil has since become THE standard application in the oil industry. Of course, SPO also supplied the key resources for the development of the R/3 version of IS/Oil.
In 1992, the SPO training & development center in Bingen installed one of the first R/3 systems, when SAP and SPO started once again a new industry add-on initiative with the cable division of Siemens. The Bingen office became soon too small, so the CableSolution got its own development site in Munich, where CableSolution became another complete turnkey solution.
While the US market started to evolve, SPO consultants worked directly for SAP in a number of R/2 projects. As the number of SPO consultants in the US started to grow, it became time to form a separate firm, facing the challenges of a new market.
In 1993, SPO America incorporated and became one of the first SAP National Implementation Partners in the US. The initial staff consisted mostly of very experienced German consultants and SPO America soon established a reputation of reliability and expertise.
In 1994, after numerous projects in the US, we realized that the development of conversion and interface programs caused major effort. So we created a solution: The LegacyLink automated program generator system. LegacyLink grew since then with every project we worked on. Our ongoing implementation experiences resulted a year later in the development of StressTest, a system to automate integration and performance testing.
In 1995, was also the premiere of our innovative implementation concept ProtoTraining, which effectively cuts down the overall implementation time. ProtoTraining increases the inter-department communication while training key users and building a functioning prototype system.
Every year in SPO Americas company history brings us to new milestones and lets us break through to new barriers. The suite of our advanced implementation tools and methodologies is growing and helping our clients to effectively work with R/3 and cut down on their spendings.
